Wendy has been in education for 25 years , where she has enjoyed teaching English, EAL, Media Studies and Film up to IB Diploma, A Level, GCSE level. She has also supported students as a coordinator through the IB Diploma Extended essay and A Level Extended Project. She has led university support and guidance as well as careers related education, and have devised and implemented whole school PSHE and learner characteristics.

Wendy has worked in Malaysia for 7 years, in addition to Japan, Spain, Turkey and the UK. Her leadership roles have included Head of Faculty, Director of Studies, Head of Sixth Form and Deputy Head. In Japan, Wendy was responsible for the management of 15 schools in Greater Tokyo, where she won the company award for the most innovative district. She has successfully collaborated to gain school accreditation for the International Baccalaureate Organisation, International Schools Association, and the Council of International Schools. She is also a Council of International Schools Evaluator and enjoys supporting schools to gain accreditation.

She is passionate about holistic education and leading experiences that provide pupils with the tools and opportunities to challenge themselves; to try new things and to flourish in a safe environment. Wendy believes in the transformative power of education, to equip students to empathise and learn about the world in which they inhabit, and to provide them with the impetus and passion to be the force for change in the future. Ultimately, Wendy believes that 21st Century skills provide a platform through which children can develop the characteristics and skill set for the future world of work.

Clement is passionate about using PE and swimming lessons as a means to build character in young people in a holistic way by encouraging participation, leadership, creativity, teamwork, and problem solving.

Clement hopes that his energy and passion towards sport and physical activity, especially, swimming, will inspire students towards pursuing an active, healthy lifestyle. He believes that every child has a talent within a sport or activity, and he will help to guide them towards a pathway of their choice. He hopes to make a difference by further improving the quality of sport and physical activities offered at school.

Mark comes from South Africa with over 20 years of industry experience in Information Technology with an emphasis in the design arena. He specialises in teaching design and technology. Having taught in Kazakhstan, and now in Malaysia, Mark is able to bring his valuable industry know-how into the classroom. Under his charge, students can expect to be guided and encouraged to reach their full potential, while always remaining grounded and focused. Mark strongly believes that each student is an individual, requiring positive motivation and strong mentorship.

Jingli is a qualified and experienced teacher from China. She has extensive experience in teaching Mandarin as a foreign and second language from both an IB international school and private college. She is passionate about enhancing active learning through scaffolding and various approaches to learning models.

Dr Menaga brings with her more than 10 years of teaching experience in the area of developing curricula, preparing and executing behaviour plans as well as evaluation student progress. She has also spent than 6 years teaching the IB curriculum in a world class IB school and IGCSE curriculum. Dr. Menaga earned her doctorate in Pharmacy from the National University of Malaysia while having first read for her BSC (Hons) Biomedical Science from the International Medical University (Malaysia). She has also posseses a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching Certificate and IB Teaching and Learning Certificate (IB Diploma) from the University College Fairview.

Mushtaaq is a qualified teacher from South Africa. He has over 8 years of teaching experience ranging from Primary school up to University level. Mushtaaq has spent the past 5 years teaching in China and has rich experience in teaching in various school settings. He aims to provide a positive and supportive environment in his classrooms, and with a background in Psychology, he works to build confidence and excellent character in his students. With an interactive and engaging teaching style, Mushtaaq encourages students to use their knowledge and skills outside of the classroom, while developing interpersonal skills that enable them to engage in an international setting.

In his 17 years as a Science and Maths educator, Chandra has been privileged to work with students and teachers in a variety of key stage 3 and 4 settings. He has worked as a Head of Department in a prestigious international school while also having headed the setup of school laboratories for sciences, showing exceptional skills in laboratory experiments. His goal is to create academically engaging learning experiences through an environment that fosters creativity, curiosity and kindness. Committed to sharing his passion for the sciences and Maths, he conducts enjoyable and informative experiments to establish a 'hands on ' feel for students. He graduated with his Bachelor of Biology and Masters in Biotechnology from University Technology Malaysia.

Elisha was a part-time lecturer in early childhood studies and an autism therapist with an educational background in Psychology. She has been conducting session that help to improve communication skills and behaviour management in her previous career with autistic children. Apart from that, Elisha also has a certification in sewing skills which she believes can be one of the tools to increase focus and creative thinking especially in the classroom.

Liam is a British/Irish educator with over 20 years’ experience in international education and has taught all age groups and proficiencies over the course of his tenure with both the British Council and major international schools in Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

As an educator, Liam prides himself on developing student confidence, encouraging creativity, and inspiring students to be their very best. Liam describes his classroom approach as eclectic, drawing on different methodologies and approaches to ensure that the learning potential is maximised and equitable at all times. As a researcher, Liam is currently pursuing further studies related to the biology and psychology of learning.

Rachel is a teacher from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with over 4 years of experience in the education industry. During her career, Rachel has successfully worked with children who are learning Mandarin as a beginner. In Rachel's classroom, students will gain knowledge and also develop language skills in Mandarin through fun activities and games.

Mila is originally from South Africa, but has been living and teaching in Korea, Vietnam and the UK for the past 15 years where she has taught various aspects of English including EAL, EFL, proficiency test preparation, and academic writing & presentation skills. In addition, working for a few years in a professional capacity at various global universities to support and advise students in achieving their academic goals has given Mila a holistic and student-led approach to teaching and learning. Mila's EAL students are always encouraged to participate and have fun while improving their English skills in her classes.

Ava Zang is a qualified and experienced Chinese Teacher. She has taught Mandarin Language in different countries and under several international standards such as IB, Common Core, and Chinese educational curriculum. She's a driven teacher who thrives on students' progress and success. She has experiences in implementing inquiry-based learning with comprehensible input into her teaching in order to scaffold and suit each learners' needs. She earned her M.Ed in international education from Endicott College (Boston, MA). She also holds a Chinese, ESOL and special needs teaching license from The District of Columbia in the United States along with a Chinese teaching license from the Chinese educational bureau. As a lifelong learner, she actively engages with educational conferences as a participant and speaker.

Alisa has been in international education for over 13 years, where she has enjoyed teaching across Primary years and Secondary subjects such as Business Studies, English, EAL and Economics up to A Level, IB Diploma and IGCSE. Alisa has been in Malaysia for 7 years in addition to UK, Russia and Romania. Her leadership roles have included Head of Early Years and Primary combined, Head of Faculty, School Counsellor and Pastoral Leader.

Alisa's passion for education is what drives her to offer a holistic and inclusive education to her students, always providing them with opportunities to get better and challenge their knowledge further. Alisa believes that all students have the right to a high-quality education and the role of the educator is to enable a conducive environment as such.

Jacqueline is one of our Apple Teachers here at UIS KL, having completed Apple’s training course to get this recognition. The training course consists of 6 modules or 'Badges' which cover general iPad usage, Pages, Keynote, Numbers, GarageBand and iMovie.

Jacqueline’s favourite badge was the GarageBand badge as it corresponds with music technology. "I have learned that when we incorporate technology in education, students will improve their creativity, and are able to collaborate with one another in their school projects, able to think critically when asked to do research on a particular field, able to communicate easily via different platforms and able to be more resilient and risk any challenges they face in their daily life."

Charline Bolito is a professional educator and an Economics examiner with a diverse background in teaching Economics and Business Studies across different international curricula for 8 years. She has taught in various international schools in Vietnam and Malaysia and is passionate in developing strategies and tools that integrate technology and philosophy to ignite students’ interest. In her class, students get the most of their learning experience as they gain essential critical thinking and analytical tools and skills to better prepare them for the outside world.

Qasim is a British artist, writer and educator from Manchester with over 20 years of experience in education, with 7 years in primary and secondary schools. As a teacher, Dr. Qasim has a strong reputation to develop confidence, imagination and aesthetic appreciation in his learners, drawing ideas of empowerment through collective and individual voices of students. He has also worked as artistic director and mentor at youth theatres. His works have also been internationally exhibited and featured on the British Council's Theatre and Dance network which promotes the best of UK performing arts.

Iain Slade is an experienced international educator from the UK, with over 28 years of diverse experience in successful schools across the UK and internationally. He has held leadership positions in both small independent schools and large school groups, includ- ing Dulwich College International in China. Throughout his career, Iain has worked with various school curriculum models, such as the IB Diploma, Cambridge IGCSE, and A-Level programmes. He holds an MBA (with Merit) in International Educational Leadership from the University of Cumbria and successfully completed the National Professional Qualifi- cation for Headship (NPQH) in the UK.

Iain has been recognised for his contributions to the teaching profession and society with two fellowships: one from the Chartered College of Teaching in the UK and another from the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).

Currently pursuing a PhD in Education at UCSI University, Malaysia, Iain's research focuses on the leadership dynamics of international schools in the ASEAN region. His educational philosophy revolves around inclusion, global mindedness, academic rigor, and providing access to all students. He is particularly interested in developing the eight learner characteristics at UCSI International School Kuala Lumpur.

Ciaran has a keen interest in all aspects of history, especially the twentieth and twenty-first centuries and is excited to be a founding member of UCSI International School after having a broad experience teaching in several countries including England, Ukraine, Egypt, Romania, Russia, and Malaysia.

With experience teaching English in Korea, Taiwan, Middle East and Malaysia, Amy has an extensive experience in designing curriculum and creating English-learning materials. For Amy, she is excited to build the new immersion programme from the ground up.

Gareth brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to his role as the Head of Department for Physical Education at UIS KL. With a PGCEi from the University of Nottingham and a BA in International Music Industry Management, Gareth's diverse background enriches his teaching philosophy. He believes in creating engaging, fun, and innovative learning experiences, utilising effective pedagogies like scaffolding to ensure students reach their full potential.

Before joining UIS KL, Gareth served as a P.E. and A-Level Psychology teacher in an international school in Malaysia and as a Humanities Teacher and Cricket Coach at a high school in England. His adaptability is evident in his seamless integration into diverse school cultures and age groups, contributing to a thriving and inclusive learning environment.

A passionate sports enthusiast, Gareth has competed at high levels in various disciplines, including swimming, basketball, and cricket. This passion, combined with his dedication to teaching, makes him a perfect fit for the P.E. department at UIS KL. Gareth's multifaceted background, including his interest in music and extensive travel experiences, adds a unique dimension to his teaching, providing real-life insights into lessons, especially in subjects like Urban Challenges and World Economies.

Always dedicated to self-improvement, Gareth actively pursues continuous professional development, reflecting his commitment to staying well-informed and delivering the best educational experience for his students.

Shannon is a published journalist and teacher from Ottawa, Canada. She has over five years of experience in both teaching and school management roles in South East Asia. Shannon has spent the majority of her teaching career working in global classrooms. She has experience teaching students from Eastern Europe, the Middle East and all across Asia. As a teacher, Shannon works to create a supportive and positive learning environment. Her interactive and engaging classroom encourages student output through hands-on activities and learning through play.

Besides teaching, Rupasree is a freelance henna and kolem designer. She has participated in many art exhibitions as an organizer or a participant.

Daniel is a teacher from Liverpool, United Kingdom, with over 3 years of experience and an educational background in Psychology. During his career, Daniel has successfully worked with children who have a number of needs including English as an additional language and autism. Daniel is also a qualified football coach who values teamwork and communication highly. In Daniel's classroom, students will gain knowledge while developing their social skills, confidence and critical thinking.

Samantha is a seasoned teacher who has taught in South Africa, The UAE and Kazakhstan. She finds fulfillment in the growth and success of her students and cares about their holistic development, ensuring that her students become contributing members of the global community. Her classroom culture encourages open mindedness and acceptance, while embracing and celebrating diversity. Students in her class will develop good collaboration and communication skills, while learning important self-management skills.

Ong's international teaching Mandarin experience in China and Myanmar in both local and international schools in Malaysia grows her excitement to work with UCSI students. She also looks forward to developing and growing together, not only in the Chinese programme, but also within and beyond the UCSI school community.

Russell has taught senior school year 11/12 Design & Technology for the last ten years while achieving high-grade results.

Bavani has a wide-ranging practical and philosophical understanding of the IPC, and Cambridge curricula due to her experience in teaching primary students in international schools. Dedicated to help every student to reach their full potential, she is excited to bring an inspiring and hands-on learning experience to her students.

Taught in international schools in Malaysia using both UK and IB curriculum. He enjoys coaching, teaching, and living in Asia.

Brian has a broad experience in teaching Design and Technology, Product Design and Engineering Resistant Materials in the UK and Colombia. He also has extensive school leadership experience.

As the Head of Primary, Hira strongly believes all children are unique and teaching should be about providing a stimulating environment for each child to grow physically, emotionally, mentally and socially. She is a strong believer of children being sensitive and reflective of the world around them.

With her immense international teaching experience in various countries, Hira aims to provide a touch of global perspective in the way the dissemination of education is done. Parents can expect their children to express themselves, discovering who they are and embracing others' differences whilst working towards becoming life-long learners.

Wei Lin has an extensive experience in teaching Mandarin, including 2 and a half years of international school teaching. She also enjoys contributing to an educational environment where every child can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.

Dedicated towards the development of children's life skills, knowledge and disposition from an early age, Tarra Tanauan comes from the Philippines with over 10 years of experience teaching in Early Childhood Education and Primary Years Education. She envisions early childhood education as a space of fun learning through continuous exploration, spurring of each child's individuality and strengths through play and expressive communication, supplemented with technology and digital resources to nurture lifelong learners. Tarra also holds a Certificate in Child Development and Family Studies from Pam Arnold, College, Australia and a Certificate in Nursery Management from Summit International College, Malaysia.

Her wide range of educational experience also includes five years as an International Baccalaureate (IB) educator and two years as a Whole School Curriculum Coordinator. Tarra's commitment to the field of education was materialised further through her obtaining a Master of Education with a specialisation in Teaching and Learning from Taylor's University, Malaysia. Having had her Bachelor of Commerce from Centro Escolar University in the Philippines, and majoring in Computer Science and Information System, Tarra also believes in nurturing children towards being global citizens through a 21st century education. "There's nothing more vital than what we can impart to them during the early years of life, where the best chances and best starts could begin."

Hailing from the USA, Matt Atlas is the Head of EdTech Integration. As a teacher, Matt has taught the subjects of Information and Communication Technology, Coding, Design, Makerspace and English. Much of Matt's educational career has been focused on assisting students and teachers experience, learn and implement technology in the classroom. He enjoys fun and active learning, exploring aspects of technology that are both relevant and engaging. His hobbies include audio recording, video editing, mountain biking, woodworking, baking and spending time with his wife and three children.

As the Head of EdTech Integration, Matt is eager to develop 21st Century Skills among students and all related stakeholders. His own personal enjoyment of and expertise with creative technologies overflows into the teachers and students he works with. He spearheaded the establishment of The EdTech Centre as a hub for students, teachers, parents and community members to interact with technology and grow their 21st Century Skills of creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking and character education. Matt is especially passionate about building creativity among students and teachers. By integrating technology into the learning process, Matt hopes that students will have experiences that inspire them towards innovative and influential futures.

Fernando loves learning and teaching languages because they offer insight into different ways of perceiving the world. His diverse experiences have equipped him with great versatility in his teaching methods.

Elaine Foster is a spoken word poet, language arts educator, and community engaged theatre maker from Malaysia and the UK. She is particularly interested in incorporating arts education across the school curriculum. She founded the arts education platforms, My Poetry School and Poetry Cafe KL, through which she has taught in national, private, and international schools across Malaysia and Singapore, facilitating poetry, storytelling and drama workshops. Over the years, Elaine has given numerous talks on the use of poetry in education, performed her poetry at various literary events, organised youth literary festivals and has hosted her own radio show on Malaysia’s BFM.

Elaine is a caring, energetic, and empowering youth mentor and advocate who works well with children and adolescents. She treats students with respect and understanding, establishing relationships based on mutual respect and understanding. Elaine believes that we are all lifelong learners, and she is always looking for an opportunity to improve her skills and knowledge through continuous professional development in order to better serve the students she teaches. She is currently pursuing a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE), with a focus on secondary school personal, social, health, and economic education teaching and learning.

Irene is a versatile teacher with a rich and diverse professional background, spanning various roles and industries. With nine years of teaching experience, she has honed her skills in private tutoring for adult professionals and elementary school classroom instruction, making her adept at motivating and mentoring students of all ages and learning levels.

Carla is an experienced and dedicated educator with a diverse international background, having taught in China, Vietnam, and Myanmar before joining the education community in Malaysia. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to her students’ development and growth, fostering an environment that empowers and nurtures them. In her classroom, Carla embraces a student-centered approach, recognizing and supporting each student’s unique learning styles, strengths, and challenges. By tailoring her teaching methods, she ensures that her students are actively engaged in the learning process and are motivated to reach their full potential. Chang Wan Ting brings a wealth of experience to her role as an educator, with over 13 years of teaching experience in diverse educational settings in Taiwan and Malaysia, including 6 years at an IB PYP international school in Malaysia. She is a passionate and dedicated teacher who prioritises building strong connections and meaningful relationships with students to support their well-being and enhance their learning experience. Wan Ting’s teaching approach is reflective and flexible, as she adeptly incorporates various inquiry-based, student-driven, and play-based learning methods into her teaching and planning. Victoria is an energetic teacher who has taught in the United States. She finds enjoyment in seeing her students’ excitement at learning and is always eager to learn new things with them. Annapurni is a dedicated and result-oriented teacher with a strong passion for education and a proven track record of fostering student growth and success. My expertise lies in Arts & Design, particularly at the IGCSE level. I am driven by a commitment to excellence in teaching and a deep understanding of both the arts and effective management.

Caryn possesses a deep-seated passion for education and boasts an extensive teaching career spanning over a decade, encompassing a diverse range of institutions. Her fervour for shaping young minds was instilled from an early age, driven by her resolute belief that educators wield the power to mould and influence the trajectories of forthcoming generations. Ventus Tan is a certified CAIE Exam Marker for IGCSE Chemistry (0620) papers. He also previously held the role of an exam officer, demonstrating adept management of IGCSE and Checkpoint Examinations within an international school setting. Ventus’s teaching style is enriched by his vibrant personality, and he displays a keen ability to identify common mistakes and areas of weakness among his students. His teaching approach is complemented by the provision of meticulously crafted, simplified notes that encompass all essential points, fostering a comprehensive understanding among his students. With 15 years of experience teaching in international schools, Julia is a dedicated educator with a strong passion for languages. Hailing from Putrajaya, she adeptly balances her roles as a coach, teacher, student, and athlete. With more than five years of teaching experience across National, International, and IB Curriculum schools, Lili fosters a positive and engaging learning environment. As an enthusiastic graduate in Sports Science and Recreation, Iqbal brings a versatile skill set that marries the worlds of physical fitness and education. With experience spanning fitness instruction, swimming supervision, and academic research, he have honed his ability to engage audiences, promote safety, and contribute to knowledge advancement.

Daniel is an experienced swimming coach with an impressive teaching career spanning 9 years. His dedication to swimming instruction and coaching is evident through his roles as a swimming coach at various reputable swimming academies. Daniel’s passion for swimming is underscored by his achievements, including participation in state-level swimming events and swimming certifications.

Thayalani is a dedicated educator with a strong background in psychology and education, holding an MBA and a BSc in Counselling Psychology. She is a certified CBT Practitioner, General Psychologist, Child Psychologist, and Autism Specialist. Thayalani’s passion for education stems from her belief in its transformative power. She sees each child as unique and full of potential. With years of experience teaching and mentoring students, she strives to create inclusive learning environments. Thayalani’s diverse interests, from cooking to badminton and counselling, help her connect with students on a personal level. Her commitment to students’ well-being and success is unwavering, making her an asset to any educational institution.
